Crown of scars
Forget about the fight to wear the crown of scars 'cause you've already won forget the pain and the tears behind you bury underneath your feet the remains of what's been left behind 'cause you have got a long a long way to run but now you dance the rest of the way and you don't look back can you hear that angel singing as you rise
now you fly away and you don't look down now and you laugh 'till you can't laugh any longer as you watch your chains fall to the ground
will you fall against the wall that you have built with your own hands when you trip upon the thorns that you have tied your legs together with when you walk upon thin ice that you know you know you should not be walking why do you wonder why that you fell through
and now you laugh and your tears smile down at your fears from where you are from way up here you know nothings ever looked so good nothing ever looked so good but now you dance the rest of the way you don't look back can you hear that angel singing as you rise

WISHES
Dear Chip,
Today is your birthday. Happy birthday little boy in the picture. It’s hard to believe, thirty-eight years later, that this is what you looked like. Your wide blue eyes, the freckles on your cheeks, the slight smile.
Magic will play a big part in your life so magic has allowed me to go back to when you were seven and tell you some things you might want to know for the future :
1. You won’t be “Chip” after High School. You’ll decide to go by your given name because you think it shows you’ve matured. So don’t get too attached to Chip. There will come a point when the only person who still calls you Chip will be your Mother and then there’ll come a point when she will stop calling you at all. “Chip” will fade and fade until you wonder if it ever really existed or was just something you imagined from the corner of your eye.
2. Life burns quickly. Ride the fire but when the flame goes out, don’t be shocked or surprised. Events will come and go, people will come and go, money will come and go. There’s little I can say to prepare you for this fact unfortunately. What’s more, after they are gone is usually when you need them the most.
3. There will be tough times ahead and this is where Magic will come in. Your lot in life, I discovered, was to be a Magician. Over and over again you’ll have to break the chains which bind you, free yourself from the box in which you seem trapped and swim to the surface. Each time it will seem impossible and indeed, you will sometimes tire of the effort needed. Maybe, you think, I’ll just stay here under water and use whatever energy I have left to examine the inside of the box. As time goes by, there will be less and less people even waiting at the surface for you to emerge. An angel or two, a beagle. However you’re a Magician and that’s what Magicians do. It’s (SPOILER ALERT) in your blood.
4. Finally, learn to be BFF with your fears. Fear of being alone, fear of having no money to eat and pay your bills, fear of being the last person left in the world you created. Those fears will motivate you to make an effort to perform one more trick, one more piece of Magic that so many others can’t. You’ll ask for support one more time. You’ll be known even if you doubt your ability to interest. You’ll live against the odds of medicine and fate while others around you perish. You’ll reach in a hat and pull out one more startled rabbit.
I like you in this portrait, untouched by stress and grief. I like to imagine what you could have possibly been looking at off camera. Maybe a gray bearded man franticly pulling flowers from mid-air while his beautiful assistant lies at his side.
xxx - You

Today is filled with anger
Fueled with hidden hate
Scared of being outcast
Afraid of common fate
Today is built on tragedies
Which no one wants to face
Nightmares to humanities
And morally disgraced
Tonight is filled with rage, violence in the air
Children bred with ruthlessness
Because no one at home cares
Tonight I lay my head down
But the pressure never stops
Gnawing at my sanity
Content when I am dropped
But tomorrow I see change
A chance to build a new
Built on spirit intent of Heart
And ideals based on truth
And tomorrow I wake with second wind
And strong because of pride
To know I fought with all my heart to keep my dream alive
